Identity
The RSX symbol, the logo and the textmark, in the variants that are approved and nowhere else. Every mark on this page is drawn from the same source-controlled files you can download in section 08.
The symbol
The primary identity. A square block cut into an arrow, pointing up and to the left. It is what RSX is recognised by, and it appears on every RSX surface.
Cut in. Three wedges cut from a solid block, from the left, right and bottom edges, leave an arrow pointing up and to the left. Every point falls on a module or half-module line. The symbol is never redrawn, re-cut or traced: use the files. How the product marks share this grid is set out under Architecture.
Logo and textmark
The logo is the symbol with the RSX textmark beside it. The textmark is drawn: it is a set of outlines, not a word set in a font.
Spacing is part of the drawing
The gap between symbol and textmark, and the textmark’s size, are fixed in the logo file. Never assemble a logo from the symbol and textmark files, and never re-space, re-size or re-set the textmark.
The textmark’s letterforms are not an interface typeface: no RSX surface sets text in them, and they exist only as the drawn file. See Typography.
Interface lockup
Interfaces do not use the logo file. Every RSX site header opens with the same typeset lockup: the symbol, the name in the heading face, and the service after a rule.
- Symbol
- 20px square (22px in a 64px header), in the text colour: ink on paper, paper on ink.
- Name
- “RSX”, Space Grotesk Bold, 18px, uppercase, tight tracking. 12px after the symbol.
- Rule
- 1px by 16px, the mid rule colour, 12px either side.
- Service
- JetBrains Mono, 10px, uppercase, widest tracking, muted. Omitted on rsx.group itself.
- Link
- The whole lockup links to the site’s home, with an accessible name such as
RSX Legal, document register.
Colour variants
Five, and only five. Each is published as a file; nothing else is a variant.
- Red#ff4143The full-colour symbol. Paper, white, light monochrome photography, or ink.RSX only. Product marks are never red.
- Ink#121212Monochrome on paper, white and light surfaces. The interface lockup on paper.
- Paper#f4f3eeMonochrome on ink and dark surfaces, including dark monochrome photography.
- Black#000000Single-colour reproduction: print, engraving, platforms that flatten colour. Not for screens; use ink.
- White#ffffffSingle-colour reproduction on dark media. Not for screens; use paper.
Backgrounds
The symbol sits on a flat field of a palette colour, or on monochrome photography with a quiet area behind it. The field must leave the symbol's edges unmistakable.
Permitted
Red on paper. The default full-colour use.
Permitted
Ink on paper. Monochrome.
Permitted
Paper on ink. Monochrome on the dark surface.
Permitted
Red on ink. Full colour on the dark surface.
Permitted
Ink on a red field. For signage and warning blocks, where the field itself is the accent.
Prohibited
Red on a red or near-red field. The edges disappear.
Prohibited
On a gradient or a busy, colourful image. Use a flat field or monochrome photography.
Prohibited
Ink on mid-grey, or any field where the contrast between mark and field is weak.
Size and clear space
Not yet specified
Minimum size and clear space
Minimum sizes and clear-space values have not been approved, so none are published. Until they are, use the files as supplied, never crop into the symbol’s square, and give it room. When the values are approved they will be stated here in construction modules, and this notice removed.
Prohibited treatments
Each of these is the symbol altered. All are prohibited, on any surface, for any reason.
Prohibited
Distorted. Stretched, squashed or skewed out of its square.
Prohibited
Rotated. The arrow points up and to the left, always.
Prohibited
Recoloured. Any colour other than the five variants.
Prohibited
Effects. Shadows, glows, bevels, gradients, outlines or transparency.
Prohibited
Reconfigured. Symbol and textmark rearranged, re-spaced or stacked.
Prohibited
Re-set. The textmark replaced by the name typed in any font.
The same applies to every product mark. A product mark is also never made by altering the RSX symbol; see Architecture.
Files
The authoritative files. Download them from here rather than copying them from a site, a screenshot or an old export.
Every file is SVG, with a viewBox so it scales without clipping, and a title for anything that inlines it. Size it by width or height alone and let the other follow, so it keeps its proportions. Give an <img> of the symbol alternative text of RSX, or empty alternative text when the name is written beside it.
The files are generated from the source exports kept in the RSX web repository (apps/rsx-design/assets-src), and published here at /brand/<identity>/. That repository is the source of truth: a mark changes there, or not at all. Product files are under Architecture.
